Excellence Grand Award
Jones Edmunds was recently selected as the 2012 Engineering Excellence Grand Award Winner in the Building/Technology Systems category of the Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers’ annual competition. The winning project was the Propellants North Administration and Maintenance Facility at Kennedy Space Center. The award criteria included the original or innovative application of new or existing techniques; future value to the engineering profession; social, economic, and sustainable design considerations; complexity of the project, and exceeding the client’s needs. Not only is the Facility LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum certified by the U.S. Green Building Council’s certification program, it is also NASA’s first net-zero facility, which means it will produce enough energy onsite from renewable sources to offset what it requires to operate.
