Jones Edmunds Helps Keep Sarasota County Beautiful
On February 19, 2011, 16 Jones Edmunds employees, friends, family, and a client picked up 12 large bags—approximately 120 pounds—of litter along a 4-mile stretch of 17th Street in Sarasota County. Jones Edmunds adopted this roadway as part of the Keep Sarasota County Beautiful program and will be doing four cleanups a year. This type of effort not only helps improve the local water quality but is a great benefit to the community.

“This first-time cleanup was a great opportunity for fun and to do something positive for the community where we work and live,” said Kim Clayback. “Although it is a lot of work, all of us are looking forward to the next cleanup.”

NASA's Greenest Facility is a Jones Edmunds Design

NASA's most environmentally friendly facility—the Propellants North Administrative and Maintenance Facility in Kennedy Space Center's Launch Complex 39 area—officially opened on Thursday, January 20, 2011.

This facility qualifies for the U.S. Green Building Council's (USGBC) Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design (LEED) green building certification program Platinum status, the highest achievable rating for "green" buildings. It is designed to reach net-zero energy, which means it will produce enough energy onsite from renewable sources to offset what it requires to operate.

Jones Edmunds provided architectural and engineering study and design services and construction-phase services for this new facility, which consists of a two-story 9,540-SF administration facility that will house managers, mechanics, and technicians who fuel spacecraft at Kennedy Space Center and a one-story 1,800-SF maintenance facility that will be used to store cryogenic fuel transfer equipment.
