Water Conservation
Jones Edmunds provides an array of water conservation services. Through our extensive experience with water utilities, we have a complete understanding of water use projections, goal-based conservation, and alternative water supply.
To accommodate the expected growth in demand, utilities must have diverse water supply options to stabilize revenues, meet environmental constraints, and comply with regulations. Communities that use their assets and water supplies to create sustainable solutions will have a competitive advantage in promoting and attracting economic development.
While conservation is not a one-size fits all solution, implementing demand-side measures can often result in the greatest return on investment by providing more capacity in existing treatment and distribution systems and extending existing water supplies. Jones Edmunds has developed several demand-side management plans to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of implementing conservation measures.

Jones Edmunds has the skills needed to evaluate the impact water conservation will have on utilities, including the effects on revenues, water quality, water distribution systems, and wastewater collection systems. Our capabilities in hydraulic modeling, GIS, and asset management can help utilities track, target, and optimize conservation efforts on the supply and demand side of the meter. Additionally, using our design experience, we can optimize distribution system operations, evaluate the potential for deferred capital costs, and estimate the return on investment resulting from conservation programs.
In addition to drawing on our experience with traditional conservation measures, we continue to look for new and innovative opportunities and management practices that can provide multiple benefits by aligning the designated use with a supply that meets the minimum quantity and quality required by the use.
