Community Outreach

Community Outreach

Jones Edmunds helps communities across Florida not only through our professional services, which enrich and sustain their growth, but also through the variety of community and non-profit activities we support.  The following describes just a few of the worthy causes our employees support.

CORPORATE 5KS AND CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENTS
Combining Florida’s famous outdoor lifestyle with a worthy cause is a great way to get involved. Each year our people participate in dozens of local Corporate 5K races and golf tournaments that support a large variety of worthy causes.

SUPPORTING EDUCATION
Whether helping regional high school science teams or supporting engineering schools at Florida's universities via donations and staff involvement, Jones Edmunds takes pride in its support of a variety of scholastic activities, including our annual support of the Tools for Schools program.  To help this school supply drive, our employees make numerous individual donations that combine with the Company's financial support to provide local schools with much-needed supplies.  Annual support of the Florida Engineering Society's MathCounts, a mathcoaching and competition program that promotes middle school mathematics achievement, is another way we help education.

Helping Student Engineering Teams across Florida
Jones Edmunds supports student engineering teams at several of Florida's universities.  In addition, we regularly provide financial support to the University of Florida Concrete Canoe and Steel Bridge engineering teams.

In 2008, we were a Silver sponsor of the ASCE National Student Steel Bridge Competition held at the University of Florida for the first time in over a decade.

We also sponsor the University of Central Florida Research Foundation, benefitting student-led projects in the Civil and Environmental Department.  Dr. Steve Duranceau, Associate Professor of Environmental Engineering and Nanoscience and Director of the Environmental Systems Engineering Institute, guides the students in the projects they undertake.

Sponsoring a Professorship
Jones Edmunds sponsors the Jones Edmunds Professorship in Environmental Engineering at the University of Florida. This professorship goes to Dr. Tim Townsend, who specializes in solid and hazardous waste management and design.

MARCH OF DIMES WALK AMERICA

For the last 12 years, Jones Edmunds staff members have volunteered in the annual March of Dimes Walk America event to promote awareness of birth defects and premature births and to support research to eliminate problems affecting newborns.

ST. JOHNS RIVER CLEANUP
For several years we have sponsored the St. Johns River Cleanup in Clay County.  Each year, hundreds of volunteers remove thousands of pounds of trash from along the banks of the river.

THANKSGIVING BASKET DRIVE
In the fall each of our offices participates in a local food drive that distributes food baskets to needy families so that they can enjoy Thanksgiving. In 2009 Jones Edmunds collected over 200 baskets.

TOYS FOR TOTS
The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program collects new, unwrapped toys as Christmas gifts for needy children. Every year Jones Edmunds participates in this worthy program.

TOO MANY TO LIST
Jones Edmunds also supports dozens of other worthy organizations such as Engineers Without Borders, the Alachua County Conservation Trust, local public school foundations, and the Girls and Boy Scouts of America.

If you are looking for a company that considers serving the community as essential to its business principles, there is no better place to look than Jones Edmunds.  Making real, positive change is at the core of our business.
